South Florida is now the second U.S. location to adopt the Midnight Golf Program, a venture designed to empower underserved youth through the game of golf that began in Detroit in 2001.
More than two dozen midnight golf participants and volunteers will celebrate the formal kick off to the Midnight Golf Program Monday, Nov. 16 at Palmetto Golf Course in Palmetto, Fla. The event begins at 6:30 p.m.

EAST LANSING – The Country Club of Lansing's John Lindert has been elected President of the Michigan Section of the PGA of America by the organization's members.
Lindert, a member of The PGA of America since 1983, was elected by his peers during the Michigan Section PGA’s Annual Meeting, held Oct. 12, 2009, at East Lansing’s Eagle Eye Golf Club. Lindert has been Director of Golf at Country Club of Lansing since 2007.

LANSING, Mich. – The readers of Golf World magazine have heaped high praise upon the state of Michigan, ranking it as the country's 11th best golf destination and placing seven of the state's courses among the Top 50 Public Facilities in the publication's second annual "Readers Choice Awards."
Michigan also has four resorts and two private courses that are ranked in their respective Top 50.

The LPGA Tour and the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger jointly announced a one-year extension to stage the event in 2010, continuing a tradition that dates back more than two decades.
"We are pleased to return to the Toledo area for the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic, a staple on the LPGA Tour for 25 years," said Marty Evans, acting LPGA commissioner. "The fans in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan embrace our players and appreciate the impressive level of golf and sports entertainment that they provide the community and the tournament sponsors. EAST LANSING, MI – Scott Hebert will attempt to win his 4th consecutive Michigan PGA Championship at the Hawk Hollow Properties in East Lansing from August 24th through the 26th. Hebert has been the only winner since the event has been played on the Eagle Eye and Hawk Hollow golf courses starting in 2006.
“Scott is just a tremendous player,” Michigan PGA Executive Director, Kevin Helm said. “He’s been on quite a run winning the PGA National Championship in 2008 and qualifying for last weeks PGA Championship at Hazeltine Golf Club. Hebert is the 41-year old Golf Professional at Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. Last month he won his first Boyne Tournament of Champions event after finishing in second place 5-times since 1999. He later missed the cut at the Buick Open last month by one stroke.
