Laura KuenyBattle Creek Country Club in Battle Creek is celebrating its 90th birthday by hosting the GAM Women’s Championship. Battle Creek Country Club is proud of its long history, having been founded in 1919, and equally proud of its Willie Park, Jr. designed golf course. The course will play around 6000 yards for the GAM’s premier championship for its women members.

The championship consists of 36 holes of stroke play over two days – August 17 and 18. Laura Kueny, Whitehall, the 2008 GAM Women’s Champion, will be back to defend her title. In 2008 as a member of the Michigan State University golf team she won the GAM Women's title at the University of Michigan Golf Course. Kueny, commenting on that, said, "It's a good feeling to dominate the home course of your rival."

Kueny’s  biggest win came at the 2007 Trans National at Persimmon Ridge GC in Louisville where she defeated many of the top players in the country. Kueny’s Plan B, if professional golf doesn’t work out, is to use her geography major to become a tornado storm chaser!

The GAM Women’s Championship is sponsored by Nationwide Insurance. For further information, please call Battle Creek Country Club pro shop at (269) 962-6121.
