Treetops Village, Mich. - An amazing occurrence took place last week at Treetops Resort a couple days prior to the ING Par Shootout on June 26 and 27. The golf resort was buzzing, not only because PGA Tour players Fred Couples, Chris DiMarco, Craig Stadler and Andy North were on-site to compete in the ING Par-3 Shootout, an event that highlights a Million dollars for each and every ace that the players can muster, but also because an amateur golfer participating in the pro-am event dunked two holes-in-one in a five-hole stretch during a practice round.

Harbor Springs – Veteran GAM player Greg Davies (West Bloomfield) was the somewhat unlikely victor at the 95th Michigan Amateur Championship sponsored by GMAC Mortgage. The 38-year-old broke a recent trend: the last time an “over 25” player won the championship was in 2000. The last five champions have all been college age.

CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN RESORT, MI – LPGA professional Kris Tamulis shot a final round 70 to win the $40,000 Michigan Women’s Open presented by Century 21 July 26th at the Mountain Ridge Course at Crystal Mountain Resort. Tamulis, 25, who summers in Oneka a, finished two strokes ahead of LeAnna Wicks, a 26-year-old professional from Brighton, MI, who closed with a 71.

Roscommon, MI - The 2006 Michigan Senior PGA Championship/Senior CPC Qualifying was held July 31-August 1 at the Forest Dunes Golf Club. Ken Allard from Detroit Golf Club finished with a 70-69-139, 5 under par total to win the Senior PGA Championship and well as medalist honors in Senior CPC Qualifying. Finishing one shot back was John Traub with a 69-71-140, 4 under par total. Also, qualifying for the National Senior CPC were Bob Ackerman, Randy Erskine, Denis Husse, Buddy Whitten, and Frank McAuliffe.

Elk Rapids, MI- The new Sundance golf course at A-Ga-Ming Resort, has been selected by Golf Digest, as one of the "Best New Courses" in America. The new course was ranked No. 3 in the "Best New Public Under $75" courses. The article appears in the January 2007 issue.

GAYLORD, MI - Osprey Recreational Properties has finalized the purchase of the Otsego Club & Resort located in Gaylord, MI. Acquisition of the property includes Otsego's "core" facilities consisting of the main lodge, restaurants, hotel / lodging acommodations, special event center, two world class golf courses, and the Midwest's only private ski club. This acquisition will make Osprey Recreation one of the largest owner/operators of golf and resort facilities in Michigan. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Joan Garety won the 6th Michigan Women’s Senior Amateur 1-up over Sue Campbell. The Ada resident claimed that patience was the key after being 2- down at one point during the final match. Garety is preparing for more competitions this summer, in particular the State Amateur tournament that will be held at her home course, Egypt Valley, July 10-14.
