Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger Donates $350,000 to Charity Print E-mail

Paula CreamerThe Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger LPGA golf tournament distributed $350,000 to 15 Northwest Ohio children’s charities in December as a result of the 2008 tournament. Checks were presented to the charities during the tournament’s annual charity luncheon at Owens Corning’s World Headquarters.

“We are pleased that the 2008 tournament was so successful in raising money for worthy charities in Northwest Ohio,” said Mike Thaman, chairman and chief executive officer, Owens Corning. “Our partnership with the tournament and Jamie Farr gives Owens Corning a wonderful opportunity to participate in a showcase event and to give back to our community.”

Lorena Ochoa to Play in 2009 Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Print E-mail

Lorena OchoaTOLEDO, Ohio - Lorena Ochoa, the world's No. 1 ranked women’s golfer announced her 2009 playing schedule this week and it includes the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic presented by Kroger. This year’s tournament will be held the week of June 29th - July 5th at Highland Meadows Golf Club, marking the “25th Anniversary” of the tournament.

Some of Ochoa’s top accomplishments include being named the LPGA Player of the Year, leading money winner and Vare Trophy winner each of the last three seasons. Her 2008 earnings topped $2.7 million vaulted her career earnings to more than $13 million since her rookie season in 2003. Ochoa won seven times in 2008, including her second major championship at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Award-winning Crystal Mountain Instructors to Teach Clinic at Michigan State Print E-mail

Crystal MountainTHOMPSONVILLE - Adam Schriber, instructor to the PGA Tour's Anthony Kim and LPGA's Morgan Pressel and Candie Kung, and Brad Dean, two-time Michigan PGA Teacher of the Year who played in the 2008 PGA Championship at Oakland HiIlls, will bring Crystal Mountain's award-winning Junior Golf Academy to Forest Akers Golf Course at  Michigan State University for a special clinic on Saturday, March 14.

Michigan Junior Golf Day, held indoors at Forest Akers Golf Course (9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.), will focus on the philosophy of Crystal Mountain's Junior Elite program to train golfers as athletes. The day will feature four breakout sessions in which Dean and Schriber will provide full-swing and short-game instruction as well as insight on how to practice

USGA Announces Sites For 2010 And 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur Championships Print E-mail

Egypt ValleyFAR HILLS, N.J. - The United States Golf Association announced today that Egypt Valley Country Club in Ada, Mich., will host the 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash., will host the 2011 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

The 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur at Egypt Valley will be played on the inward nines of both the Ridge and Valley courses, which were both designed by Arthur Hills and opened in 1990. The dates of the championship are July 19-24, 2010.

The Golf Channel's most popular series celebrates its 10th anniversary by returning to the destination where it all began, Northern Michigan, known as "America's Summer Golf Capital."
