Designed by Michigan State graduate Ray Hearn, Moose Ridge Golf Course opened in 1999 and has since been lauded as one of the very best layouts in Southeastern Michigan. In 2007, the course was ranked Number 3 out of 190 courses in the region by the Detroit Free Press. Moose Ridge is blessed with breathtaking elevations and a rolling topography that is reminiscent of a course in Northern Michigan. So players need not be concerned about disturbance or din from the outside world during their round. Measuring 6,892 yards from the tips with a slope of 138 makes this course one of the more difficult ones in the immediate area. However, its playability factor for all handicaps and the family-friendly service is a reason why so many golfers give Moose Ridge rave reviews. Our mission here is to add value for our customers every day,” said Pete Salpietra, who is one of the owners of Moose Ridge. “We meet them at the door, provide them a service, pack them up and kiss them goodbye when they leave. We are just trying to create a great experience for them.” One of those wonderful experiences is a Moose Ridge exclusive- a summer twilight special that allows a parent and child to play and ride together for $25, because Salpietra and his fellow owners believe that the family that plays together stays together. “This game has to be preserved and affordable,” said Salpietra. If courses don’t offer programs like this, the game will go away. We have to continue to invest in it.” Moose Ridge Golf Course also offers a full-service practice facility complete with driving range and short game area. Their Junior Golf Academy conducted by a number of PGA professionals has been well received and quite successful at introducing our young adults to the game. We encourage all golfers to stop in the Kodiak Bar and Grille located in the clubhouse. As you enter the Montana-style lodge, you may feel like you’re encountering a dining experience somewhere out west.
